Hydraproxy Pros

If you have been reading our recommended proxies for different use cases, chances are there that you must have come across Hydraproxy. This is because of some of their features that fit in perfectly with the use cases. Below are some of the pros of Hydraproxy.

Sizable IP Pool from Worldwide Locations

The size of a proxy pool is very important, especially if you are looking forward to using many IPs and getting them rotated. With fewer IPs in the pool, the chances of getting assigned the same IP is high. For this reason, we take the size of an IP pool seriously, and Hydraproxy has a large proxy pool even though it is not breaking any record. This proxy provider has a residential proxy pool with over 7 million IP addresses.

Just like most residential proxies, their IPs are sourced via a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network, which is the same as their mobile IP proxies, and for this reason, you should not expect the whole IPs to be available at any moment for you. However, you will always get a sizable amount to use anytime you want.

hydraproxy Locations

Aside from the size of their IP pool, one other feature you will come to like about their pool is the locations supported. The IPs are not sourced from one location but from over 100 countries across the globe.

With support for IPs from worldwide locations, this provider supports geo-targeting. You can choose to use IPs from a selected country provided the country is among the over 100 countries supported by Hydraproxy. This makes it possible for you to access geo-targeted content from web services.

Good IP Rotation System

How often can you change the IP address, and for how long can you maintain the same IP address? Hydraproxy has a good session control system. They have got support for high rotating proxies that changes IP address after every request.  High rotating proxies are perfect for tasks that send too many requests in a short period of time, and you would want to bypass request limits such as web scraping, crawling, and everything in between.

Also impressive is their support for sticky proxies that would only rotate IP after a specific period of time. For now, you can maintain the same IP address for as long as 30 minutes to one hour. Sticky IPs are perfect for account management and services that would require you to maintain sessions for a period of time. If you need to maintain the same IP address longer than the supported period of time, you will have to contact the support team for that, as that is not available by default.

Pricing is Affordable

There is no doubt that the pricing of a proxy service has a long way to go in influencing proxy users to use their service. If you look around the residential proxy market, all you would see are expensive proxies that, even though they are not overpriced, have a minimum monetary requirement that is not friendly to small marketers.

While big marketers can afford to use these services and even get discounts, small marketers usually won’t get a good bargain. There are only a few providers in the marketer that cater to the need of small marketers, and Hydraproxy is one of such services.

hydraproxy Pricing

Hydraproxy is priced based on bandwidth. You can use as many IP addresses as you from any of the supported locations – you only get charged for the traffic. In total, they have got 4 plans in total and what differentiates them is the price per GB. The smallest plan offers you a GB for $5. Their regular plan offers a GB for $3, but you will have to buy between 150GB – 1000GB.

One thing you will come to like about Hydraproxy is that they do not have monthly commitments and any hidden charge. You can pay for as small as 1GB and still buy it at $5. This makes it one of the most affordable and pocket-friendly residential proxy services in the market.

Acceptable Proxy Speed

Proxies are known to reduce the Internet speed of their users, and when it comes to residential proxies, they are worse when compared to datacenter proxies. However, this does not mean residential proxies are slow to the extent that your browsing or streaming experience should be disrupted.

There are some residential proxy services that will provide you a seamless experience but is Hydraproxy one of those? We set out to find out and the result was acceptable. The speed testing tool we use is the Speedtest by Okla. The below is the screenshot of my Internet speed without using a proxy server.

hydraproxy speed without using a proxy server

Looking at it, you will see that it is not breaking any record. However, I use it for all of my tasks without any hitches. Now let compare the result above with the one below. The below speed test is for my Internet connection when I set up proxies from Hydraproxy.

hydraproxy speed with proxies

The highest difference is in the ping, and it completely normal for a residential proxy server. For the download speed, we can say that the speed without a proxy is almost double the speed with Hydraproxy and also, this is also normal, expected, and acceptable. For the upload speed, the speed testing tool on several occasions didn’t read any result and but the proxies did work well when used – for this reason, I see that as a quirk.

Proxy Generator Available

For most residential proxy services, you can have IPs rotate as much as you like, and Hydraproxy also supports that. However, there is one feature not many of them support – providing you multiple endpoints in the form of a proxy list. Hydraproxy is one of the few residential proxies that has support for a proxy generator.

A proxy generator is a tool that generates a list of IP:PORT pairs with their associated authentication details. You are not required to make any additional payment – your active subscription would do. Proxies list comes in handy when you would want to have full control over IP rotation as opposed to leaving rotation in the hand of a proxy service.

Hydraproxy Cons

The above pro section makes it look like a service without a downside. Well, that’s not true – Hydraproxy does have its own weaknesses that you need to be aware of before making use of their proxies.

Limited Geo-Targeting Support

If there is one feature I will want to see an improvement, that would have to be their geo-targeting support. Currently, if you visit their website, you will see that they have got support for over 100 countries. For the countries supported, you can select to use only proxies from there. That’s, they have got support for country-level targeting.

However, they do not have support for state-level and city-level targeting. If you are looking for a proxy that will provide you state or city-level targeting, then Hydraproxy is not the service for you. Also worthy of note is that they also do not have support for ISP targeting.

Slow Customer Service

Another aspect Hydraproxy needs to work on is its customer service. They do not have live chat support. If you want to communicate with them, you will have to do that via email or on Twitter. For the channels supported, you do not get swift responses as you would if they have got live chat support. However, you need to know that they respond to queries and are always out to help their customers.

Do I Recommend Hydraproxy?

So far, we do not have any reason not to recommend Hydraproxy except for the issues related to state and city level geo-targeting. They have proven themselves as one of the best residential services even though they are not very popular.

Interestingly, we are not alone. There are many other Internet marketers that have used their proxies and would recommend them too. You can check out impressive reviews on Trustpilot about Hydraproxy.
