I don\u2019t mean to talk down to you. The reality is almost nobody knows the art of SEO warfare. That\u2019s why you can pay companies thousands of dollars to help you. It\u2019s also why countless software applications have been developed; why blackhat, greyhat,\u00a0and whitehat\u00a0hat techniques are hotly debated over the internet.<\/p>\n

In an increasingly internet-centric world, SEO is a currency that multiplies its own wealth. It\u2019s completely understandable why you want to get in on the gold rush, and I\u2019m here to help.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll be focusing on the ways to do this with SEO software because you probably don\u2019t have thousands to spend (monthly) on a specialized company. That said, money is going to be an important piece of this How-To.<\/p>\n

SEO software, especially the best software, isn\u2019t free, and many of the proxy types I\u2019ll be discussing below will cost monthly as well.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re likely doing this to grow a business. You want it to be more searchable, and therefore more profitable. These tools should be viewed as further investments in that business.<\/p>\n\n

<\/span>Why use SEO Proxies?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

When you do a quick Google search on this topic you\u2019ll find a number of people asking why they actually need proxies for SEO software.<\/p>\n

There are a number of answers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Running keyword searches<\/strong> and other data-heavy allocations\/requests<\/strong> can put a lot of strain on your connection and ISP IP address. Using more IPs to accomplish the same task will increase the overall completion time.<\/li>\n
  2. The most common reason anyone uses a proxy. If you\u2019re performing anything other than extreme white hat techniques, you\u2019ll want proxies to make sure your actions can\u2019t be traced back to you<\/strong>. I\u2019ll have some words of warning below.<\/li>\n
  3. Prevent blocking<\/strong>. Even if you are performing legitimate white hat searches, Google and other companies will block your requests if they are repeated too often and from the same IP. The second you load your IP address into a software application it will use that IP like a bot, not like a human. It doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll get in trouble, but you will have to wait until you\u2019re IP is un-banned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The reality is that if you want to use SEO software successfully, you\u2019re going to need proxies. \u201cBut what kind of proxies?!<\/strong><\/a>\u201d you chant from the endless plains of the internet. I\u2019ll put multiple kinds in context below, and show you how to go about finding your own.<\/p>\n\n

    <\/span>Finding Proxies for SEO Software<\/span><\/h2>\n

    The issue with giving blanket advice is that nobody has the exact same situation. We\u2019re all using slightly different methods to achieve similar ends\u2014a better-ranked page with more traffic \u2014but the roads to get there are not simple or written in stone.<\/p>\n

    Did you know that Google updates its search algorithms<\/a> and processes 500-600 times a year? They don\u2019t conduct major overhauls that often, but the search giant is constantly changing the rules. With proxies and SEO software, there are no hard and fast rules. There are guidelines.<\/p>\n\n

    <\/span>A Note on Free Proxies<\/span><\/h3>\n

    The first and almost-always foolproof rule in the guidebook is not complicated, it doesn\u2019t cost any money, and it usually results in a better understanding of both the software you\u2019re using and the proxies you may buy.<\/p>\n

    Ask your provider. Do it. Every single legitimate proxy provider should have a \u201cContact Us\u201d section. If they don\u2019t, beware that provider.<\/p>\n

    You\u2019ll want to be straight forward in your request for information. Ask what type of proxies they provide, what types of software or platforms the proxies typically work on, and what level of technical troubleshooting is available.<\/p>\n

    That last step is key. Some SEO proxies providers<\/strong><\/a> are very helpful and very tech-oriented, so you\u2019ll get real answers from a dedicated staff. Others will just try to sell you more products, which you don\u2019t want or need.<\/p>\n

    You can go about these requests in two different ways:<\/p>\n

    If you haven\u2019t already pulled the trigger on a type of software but have narrowed it down to one or two providers, shoot an email and ask which SEO software tool works best with their proxies.
